COMEDY

LOGLINE

An American take on the Japanese harem genre about a young man who moves in with three aliens who come to Earth in the form of beautiful women to learn about the human experience.

SYNOPSIS

Three girls in their late teens, RUBY, CRYSTAL and ANNA are driving drunk on dark road at night. They’re dancing crazily, telling stories, and flashing every car that passes by.

At the height of their shenanigans, they narrowly avoid a head on collision with a semi-truck. This near-death event quickly sobers them up.

Just as they are beginning to relax again, their back tire explodes sending their car careening off the side of the road into the woods. All three women die instantly, trapped inside the mangled wreckage. Suddenly, a massive light appears form the sky above, shining down on the wreck.

KEVIN, a go-with-the-flow 19 year-old, arrives at his aunt’s house, AUNTIE STACY. They haven’t seen each other in ages, and she is more than excited to have him staying with her for a while until he can find a place of his own. While looking up rooms for rent on Craigslist, Kevin stumbles across a short ad for a ‘Roommate Wanted’.

Kevin decides to go check out the first place for rent on his list. He knocks on the door. A girl answers. Ruby. She, Crystal and Anna are inside, alive. Their behavior is strange, but Kevin simply takes it as an odd sense of humor.

After a short interview to decide whether Kevin is a good candidate to live with them, Ruby, Crystal, and Anna welcome him to move in.

After unpacking, Kevin goes to a nearby coffee shop to chill out and search for jobs. While he’s there, an employee quits in a dramatic fashion by making a huge scene. The other barista working there, NICK, calmly goes to put up a ‘Now Hiring’ sign on the front door. Kevin inquires about the job and is hired on the spot. Nick immediately starts pawning off all his work on him.

Later that night, Kevin comes back to the apartment, tired. Ruby, Crystal and Anna are imitating professional wrestling in the living room and don’t notice him come in. Kevin goes to his room to call it a night.

The next morning, all three girls are standing over. They tell Kevin they need to talk. In the living room, they have an intervention style sit down where they explain to Kevin that there’s something important he needs to know; that they’re aliens from another planet sent on a pilgrimage to learn about the human experience.

Kevin of course thinks this is ridiculous, that is until one of the girls uses telepathy to speak directly to Kevin’s mind. He still doesn’t believe it, but spends the rest of the day at work trying to figure out how they pulled off a trick like that. Kevin tries to enlist Nick’s help on how such a thing could be done, but Nick is of course no help at all.

That night, Kevin goes back to the apartment, the events of that morning still on his mind. He rings the doorbell and no one answers. Then he knocks, and Ruby answers the door naked. Kevin is shocked and flustered.

Ruby pulls him inside the apartment where Crystal and Anna are also naked. Kevin is taken aback, and isn’t quite sure what to do. He asks them why they’re not wearing clothes, and they explain that the temperature in the apartment raised a drastic amount, so they removed all their clothes in an effort to lower their body temperatures.

Kevin can’t believe it. He eventually convinces them to put on some clothes, all while beginning to believe these girls are either extremely committed to a prank, or might actually be telling the truth.

Ruby exclaims that it’s time for dinner, but Crystal and Anna are less than excited about it. Ruby invites Kevin to eat with them, but when they get to the dining room, Kevin sees that they are eating whole, raw onions. He can’t believe it.

Kevin finally starts coming to terms with the idea that these girls really might not be from Earth, which is further confirmed when they use telepathy on him once again.

Kevin introduces the girls to some Earthly pleasures like pizza and weed as the girls explain again why they’re here. They’re on a pilgrimage to Earth to learn firsthand about the human experience, and clearly, they can use Kevin’s help.

American Harem takes place on Earth, more specifically in a prototypical metropolitan city.
