LOGLINE
A crew of space fighter pilots in an alternate future where AI has been outlawed vie for the elite position of Javelin.
SYNOPSIS
After discovering his wife cheating on him with another man, Owen, an aimless and weak-willed accountant, uncharacteristically heads to a local bar to blow off steam.
At the bar, Owen runs into an old friend from high-school, Maddox, a street-savvy and capable lone wolf with ataraxia.
In an effort to get Owen out of his rut, Maddox, invites him out for a night on the town, and introduces him to Texas Hold ‘em.
Owen quickly realizes that he has an affinity for the game due to his lifelong obsession with puzzles, and ends up turning the $500 Maddox stake him into $20,000 by the end of the night.
The next morning, Owen and Maddox are kidnapped by some local gangster Maddox had stolen money from named Rama. Owen offers to pay back the debt in exchange for Maddox’s life.
Over the next tree days, Owen turns $15,000 from his own savings into a little over $100,000, only to be robbed right before paying Rama off.
The series follows Owen through the ups and downs of being forced to work for a maniacal gangster, owning an illegal offshore casino, being imprisoned, and ultimately, running a legitimate casino of his own.
SETTING
Javelin takes place in an alternate future where three major human factions vie for control of the galaxy.
This struggle for control is set against a universe where AI has been outlawed after humanity nearly being driven to extinction.
Javelin is a part of the larger Supremacy universe, where advanced technology is considered more valuable than human life.
Giving the expendable space fighter pilots of Javelin the most dangerous job in the galaxy.
CHARACTERS
AARON “CANNON" CULPER
A vulnerable, undervalued, loser with very little ambition that becomes a confident, intensely focused, mastermind.
Owen is incredibly observant, as well as witty and clever. He’s extremely good with numbers and pattern recognition.
Obsessed with puzzles from a young age, Owen has an incredible ability to breakdown how things work in his head.
Over the course of the show he becomes the ultimate chessmaster.
EUNA “VALKYRIE” DAVIES
Some people call him “Mad”, even though he never actually gets upset. He’s smart and street savvy, and much more capable in a gunfight than he is in a poker match.
Maddox is quick on his feet, and can usually find a way out of even the most dire situations.
ERIC “WRECK” MERCURY
A deceptive professional gambler and con artist. Farrah is an opportunist in the greatest sense of the word, always looking for a way to rip someone off.
She is a planner and strategist, and tries her best to stay as many steps as possible ahead of everyone else.
GABRIELA “MUSCLES” CAPANO
A menacing loan shark with a mind for greater things. He’s sharp, opportunistic, and almost completely devoid of empathy.
Dominic runs one of the biggest gangs in Atlantic City and has numerous men under his emply.
CHARLES “DARWIN” DAVIES
The impulsive and tactless gang leader of The Ruffians, a local Atlantic City gang. Rama is impatient and greedy, but doesn’t have the brains to back up his ambitions.
